One Direction at Madame Tussauds

Recently, One Direction were transformed into wax figures at the famous London museum, Madame Tussauds. It was a big honour for the group!

1D was figures
In 2013, the five members of One Direction had two sittings with the sculptors who were to create their wax figures for Madame Tussauds. The sculptors' biggest challenge was to capture the boys' playful cheeky smiles and show their true personalities.

TAKING HARRY'S MEASUREMENTS
Here, Harry is having his head measured by the sculptor's assistants. They took around 200 measurements and photos of each of the 1D boys. Zayn, Liam, Louis, Niall and Harry loved the experience!

SCULPTING ZAYN'S HEAD
This is Zayn's head... in clay. To create it, the sculptors made a wire frame. Then they worked the clay on the frame to form Zayn's head and face. They constantly checked the star's measurements using callipers.

LIAM'S PERFECT SMILE
To make the teeth for Liam's wax model, Liam had to bite into dental resin. The mould was then sent to a dental company which specializes in false teeth. The company spent four days making a set of teeth to reproduce Liam's perfect smile.

NIALL'S EYE COLOUR
Niall is having fun choosing from Tussauds' collection of 200 glasls eyes. To create the eyes for Niall's wax model, the eye-making experts measure his eye ball, pupil and iris. They then have to find the exact colour for his eyes. After ten hours, the eyes are ready. They have to be perfect -it's the eyes that will make Niall's model look real.

LOUIS COOL HAIR STYLE
The hair experts are trying to find the same colour as Louis' hair. Each hair is individually inserted into the model's head... and they use real human hair that has been donated to the museum. The hair is then washed, cut and styled.

OUR TRIP TO MADRID

An internet forum

Hi, My name's Clàudia Vallmajó and I live in South London. I like the area where I live so I want to improve it.

In my opinion there isn't anywhere for young people to go. There aren't any facilities for them. As a result, young people spend all their time hanging around on the street. There are sometimes problems with vandalism and graffiti.

I think the council should do something about this. I'm sure they must have some locals to build a youth café.

A dialogue for a story

Xenia: Claudia! Can you help me? I need some help!

Claudia: Xenia? Where are you? What's happened?

Xenia: I'm at the sea. I was sailing near the rock and I hit it. My boat is going down!

Claudia: Are you OK? Can you get out of the boat?

Xenia: No, I think I've broken my leg. I can't move it and it really hurts. What can I do? I see an island but it's far away...

Claudia: Don't panic! Let's phone the police and the coastguard. They're going to find you!

Xenia: OK, but hurry up! I can't wait for more. I'll be in the water soon.

Claudia: OK, OK hang on! I'm sure that the police will come soon.

Xenia: Claudia! I can't move!

Claudia: What's happening now?

Xenia: I'm in the water, I can't breath! Help!
